I've heard a lot of different approaches to do this, what would be the easiest/quickest way? I've read Excel has an odbc driver, SAP has their own manual for writing SQL queries (http://www.sapdb.org/pdf/usmanodbc_eng.pdf), read something about macros and RFC, using VBA, etc. etc.

If I only need read access, and need a small number of tables, what's the best way to go about this? I'm expecting to have to do some 'light' reading to learn how to program a little bit, so that won't be a problem.
